Gear Box problems in a 2001 Vauxhall Corsa, help?

Remove shifter boot,if the top plate bolts are tight,check to see if there is a pin through the top plate to the shifter.Some shifters are equipped with a pin that holds shifter from popping out.If everything looks fine it could be a broken shifting fork in the transmission.
