Can read this and tell me what you think?

I liked it except at the end when it was said a thing of virtue - the word 'thing' seems wrong unless it was their virtue that died then it would need to be worded differently. Its a sad ending in that there is no resolution for us the reader so no hope - Thats okay by me but most people need a bit of hope that there could be resolution - Its a little bit like Hans Christian Andersens 'the emperors new clothes" but there is no little boy telling the truth - except for the author no one in the story who was acting inhumanely is redeemed by any consciousness . (Its still fine if thats the way you wish it to be)
