I am having a wireless laptop with the OS vista.?

Previously I was able to access internet from an unsecured network.But now on ,my apartment is providing a free unsecured network where every inmates could use it.I am not able to access internet from this network while I get local access only.But others are getting internet.Is it anything to do with the OS.What is the problem?
